Faces of America (throwback)

Approximately three years ago I visited the states and on this journey I wanted to be able to capture as many of the faces that occupied America as possible.. Unfortunately I didn't reach my goal of 100 faces but I wasn't too far off.  During this trip I traveled around for 2 weeks and had many conversations with some awesome people, below are those faces.

JerryJerryJerry was the first stranger I encountered when I arrived in Brooklyn, while I was waiting to get into the apartment Jerry looked after me in his coffee shop and let me use his wi-fi. Thanks Jerry, it was a pleasure. DanDanI met Dan the first day of arriving in America, he was a pleasure to have a drink with. Bible GuyBible GuyI was walking down one of many streets in New York when I walked past this fellow handing out bible leaflets, I took one and asked if I could take his photo as I liked the fact he was wearing a baseball cap while doing his work. I didn't catch his name. Hot Dog GuyHot Dog GuyWhile in New York I wanted to try as many "new Yorker" things as possible, so I bought a hot dog from a street vendor and got a snap of him. Canon CoupleCanon CoupleContinuing on my wander I walked past this couple, I loved that they both had canon straps on the exact same way and couldn't resist stopping them. Coffee Shop GuyCoffee Shop GuyI was parched and it was early so I decided to get myself a coffee, this chap reminded me of a typical Australian surfer dude. PinholePinholeI was walking the high line in New York, this young man was selling his photos that he has taken using a pinhole camera, I loved one of Brooklyn bridge so purchased it. Spray Paint ArtistSpray Paint ArtistStill on the high line, I bought a spray painted version of New York skyline. Nice HatNice HatAgain, on the high line this guy had an awesome hat. That's pretty much the only reason I asked for his photo. Martin at LeviMartin at LeviI met Martin in one of the Levi stores, I had been asked by a friend to get him a pair and as I walked in I heard an English accent, Martin was from Birmingham, UK. He gave me some tips on places to go during the weekend but unfortunately I ran out of time... And steam Subway SpecialSubway SpecialI have nothing to tell you about this man, I simply walked past him and loved his look. DenmarkDenmarkStrolling through Central Park, I saw two girls taking a photo of each other one at a time, I asked if they would like me to take a photo of the both of them and also if I could grab a snap for my project. They were on a two week holiday and were both from Denmark. Central Park PhotographyCentral Park PhotographyThis chap was selling his photography on a path in Central Park, the photos were of all over the world and were the style of worlds (find proper term). I didn't buy one of his photos but asked if I could take one of him. $1 Jokes$1 Jokes AT&TAT&TI was searching all over to get a SIM card for my phone so I could use google maps if I got lost. This guy from AT&T was extremely helpful in getting me connected to the world again and I had to ask for a photo. SaxamaphoneSaxamaphoneNot much to tell about this chap, he could jam real well though. Pizza SlicePizza SliceThe third day of my trip and the heavens opened, I was walking around in torrential rain in flip flops, shorts and a t-shirt so I decide to try one of the local pizza slice shops. He caught my eye as he walked in with supplies. FossilFossilI love my fossil watches and thought I'd pop in to see what was on show, this young lady was chatting with me about my trip and my project for a while and I asked for her photo. Empire WardenEmpire WardenBeing a true tourist I had to go up the Empire State bundling, but again it was raining hard and visibility was at a minimum. She was nice enough to tell me to get my ticket and come back another day as coming all the way from Australia would have been a waste to go up and see nothing. She was also very patient with my while I swapped lenses and stumbling around in my backpack. Century 21Century 21Strolling through century 21 because a tour book said it was great (lol) I walked past her and liked the style of her hair. Outside B&HOutside B&HSo, I'm in New York and love photography, so why not visit B&H, just as I walked up this chap started talking to me as I'm sure he could see I looked like a tourist with my camera. We must have spoken for about 15 minutes out in the rain and he explained he is also a photographer and his son was teaching a workshop inside of B&H. Thanks for the chat! Inside B&HInside B&HOk, so I had to buy something from B&H. I was in total awe of the store and unfortunately didn't have enough money to buy the lens I wanted so I opted for some small accessories. I was served by this young lady who obliged for the photo oh, before I forget she was also amazed by my backpack and the silver rain cover I had on it. Hehe. MelissaMelissaThis is Melissa, I met her in a little Irish pub over the road from B&H, she was from Washington, D.C. And in New York for a weekend trip with her two friends. We all drank for the afternoon and had a blast until they had to leave to catch the train back to DC. We all drank for the afternoon and had a blast until they had to leave to catch the train back to dc. TwinsTwinsI stayed in the Irish pub across the road from B&H for a while and got talking to the barman. LondonerLondoner Actually IrishActually IrishI don't know why but I was on a roll with visiting Irish pubs along my travels. I sat in and had some lunch and was chatting to the barmaid who was actually Irish (which gave it a more authentic feeling), she then gave me a beer on the house and said I could stay in the pub as long as I liked to avoid the rain outside.. However, adventures with random people was beckoning. Tour GuideTour GuideI stuck to my tourist ways and jumped on a "hop on hop off" tour bus, this fella was giving an awesome description of downtown New York and had so much energy, he even sang "New York, New York".
After getting off the bush and yet again finding another Irish pub he walked past the pub so I ran out after him to take a photo.
BarmaidBarmaidContinuing on my Irish pub exploration the one I ended up in was staffed by these two lovely ladies, I couldn't resist but to ask to take their photo. TexasTexasSorry to say it but yes, again I was in another Irish pub (don't judge me). I sat down next to these two and after a while started chatting. Nina's cool hair style caught my eye so I explained my project. They were both happy to have their photo taken and we are now "Facebook buddies" hehe. Gone Fishing?Gone Fishing? While speaking to the two girls from Texas a chap in a fishing hat sat down next to me.. I took the opportunity. Another BarmaidAnother BarmaidAfter taking the photo of the chap in a fishing hat I noticed we had a new barmaid on shift who I just had to ask for her photo. AwesomeAwesomeThis amazing looking woman sat next to me, I literally had to be rude and interrupt her conversation to take a photo, sorry about that. Train BoyTrain BoyAfter a long day of wandering the big apple (and drinking) I was sitting on the train heading back to Brooklyn when he hopped on the train with his dog. He proceeded to announce his presence and that he was not meaning to pester anyone and needed some money for his dog and him, I was the only one that gave him something and took his photo. I admire that he announced he was not trying to annoy anyone. BonnarooBonnarooDuring the trip I went to Bonnaroo music and arts festival. I met some awesome people while here!
